Neil Warnock happy ‘weaning off’ football with short-term jobs

Aberdeen interim boss Neil Warnock has insisted his days of immersing himself in a job for the long haul are firmly behind him.

The 75-year-old has become a specialist in short-term fixes in recent seasons and has no desire to overstay his welcome at a club.

Warnock has seen Roy Hodgson – one year his senior – come under fire from Crystal Palace supporters after deciding to stay on for the current campaign following his impressive fire-fighting spell in charge of the Eagles at the end of last season.

Warnock is content to continue in end-of-season interim roles like the one he has taken on with the Dons, even though such a scenario means he is generally unable to recruit players in his mould.

Bournemouth bring in Mings

Bournemouth have strengthened ahead of their top-flight debut with the signing of full-back Tyrone Mings from Ipswich Town.

The 22-year-old left back spent three seasons at Portman Road, having arrived from non-League Chippenham Town in 2012.

Mings was a regular for Mick McCarthy in the Championship last term as Ipswich reached the play-off semi-finals.

However, he now moves to Dean Court, with Eddie Howe s men preparing for life in the top flight following their Championship-winning season last term.

It s relief I guess, that is the easiest way to describe it, Mings told the club s official website.

I didn t know too much about [the move] until around 48 hours ago but I m glad I m here and I m looking forward to getting started.

Valencia eyeing Fernando Torres

La Liga giants Valencia are being linked with a summer move for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, .

Los Che will have money to spend in the summer if billionaire Peter Lim completes the club takeover and it is believed he will try and make the Spain international his first marquee signing.

Chelsea are expected to finally cash in on the experienced forward, although they are hoping to earn around £13 million from his sale.

Fernando Torres joined the Blues from Premier League rivals Liverpool in January 2011, but he never came even close to justifying the £50 million price tag.

The Spaniard went on to score mere 19 goals in 101 Premier League appearances, and lost his place in the national team in the process.

He has managed just 4 goals in 19 lea…

Sebastian Rudy is back in the Germany squad, with Joachim Low also calling up uncapped defender Robin Koch.

Midfielder Rudy has not played for his country since November 2018 but after helping Hoffenheim win at former club and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Saturday has earned a recall from Low.

Germany are without Toni Kroos for games against Argentina and Estonia after the Real Madrid midfielder pulled out through injury, while Cologne left-back Jonas Hector also withdrew.

Manchester City s Ilkay Gundogan is a doubt to face Argentina in a friendly on Wednesday due to a muscle problem and Timo Werner is yet to join the squad because he has flu.

Matthias Ginter was another absentee from the group that met on Monday as the Borussia Monchengladbac…

Argentinian club want Javier Pastore

Javier Pastore s time at AS Roma has not been great, to say the least. The Argentine attacking midfielder joined the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2018 for 25 million euros and that is going to haunt the club for a long time. It is an understatement that things did not work out and so far this season, Pastore played in only three matches, to a total of 166 minutes.

He did not even score once and now he could be on his way out of the club. According to CNN Deportes, Pastore could possibly move to Racing Club, the side from Argentina that are keen offering him a way out of Roma.

The 30-year-old has struggled for consistency since joining Roma from PSG and he also had several injuroes. It is thought former international team-mate Diego Milito, who now works as technical…

West Ham back in for Lescott

West Ham United are ready to reignite their interest in Manchester City centre-back Joleon Lescott, .

The England international rejected a move to Upton Park back in January as he was keen to help City in their quest for a historic quadruple.

However, he has made just five appearances in all competitions since the winter window closed, and he is unlikely to be offered a new contract by manager Manuel Pellegrini.

In his five years with the Sky Blues, Lescott has completed the collection of domestic honours, wining the FA Cup and Premier League title in 2011 and 2012 respectively before adding the League Cup last month.

West Ham’s Premier League status can be secured at the weekend, if they beat in form Crystal Palace and other results fall in thei…

Liverpool v Sunderland: Klopp demands smarter attack as injury comebacks continue

Jurgen Klopp has challenged Liverpool to be smarter in the final third as his side prepare to take on Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.

Liverpool suffered a 2-0 defeat away to league leaders Leicester City this week and have failed to score in their last three matches in all competitions since the dramatic 5-4 win away to Norwich City.

The Anfield outfit failed in their pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira in the transfer window and the form of Christian Benteke – who last scored in the league in December, against Sunderland – means the return of Daniel Sturridge to training this week serves as a timely boost for the club, even though he remains short of match fitness.

Klopp, however, insists the goals will come for his side if they …
