Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of goalkeeper Brian Murphy on a free transfer from Ipswich Town.
Murphy, 28, left Championship club Ipswich in May after rejecting a new contract.
Following a spell on trial with QPR, he agreed a two-year deal with the west London club.
Murphy will compete for a place alongside Paddy Kenny and Radek Cerny during QPR s first season in the English Premier League since 1996.
You need three senior keepers for the Premier League and we ve got that now, QPR manager Neil Warnock said.
He is a very capable understudy to Paddy; him and Radek will offer great competition for the coming season.
Murphy began his professional career with Manchester City in 2000, joining Swansea in 2003 and then League of Ireland club Bohemians in 2007.
He switched from Bohemians to Ipswich in January 2010, making 20 appearances for the club.
Called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the 2009 World Cup playoff against France, he is yet to make an international appearance.
I am here to work hard, and anything extra will be a bonus, Murphy said.
I want to be in that 18-man squad every week, but I know every player here wants the same thing.
It is going to be a massive season for the club and one that I am looking forward to being a part of.
In other news, striker Shola Ameobi has signed a two-year contract extension with Newcastle United, tying him to the club until 2014.
The 29-year-old made his Newcastle debut in 2000, netting 70 goals in more than 300 appearances for the club.
Veteran forward Ludovic Giuly has returned to former club Monaco on a free transfer after signing a two-year contract.
The 35-year-old s last appearance for Monaco came in the 2004 Champions League final, after which he joined Barcelona, before spells with Roma and Paris Saint-Germain.
But he returns to the Stade Louis II to find the club in Ligue 2 after their relegation from the top flight last season.
And in another return, centre-back Chris Riggot has rejoined Championship club Derby County on a free transfer, eight years after leaving for Middlesbrough.
